How to choose the best vacuum cleaner for your family?

The choice of the one that best suits our needs depends on a large number of factors, because each person and each house has different peculiarities. Everything will depend on the situation, the plants present in the house, the square meters to be vacuumed, whether you have pets or not, or the type of surface of your floor.

HOW TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT VACUUM CLEANER?
1. THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN POWER AND SUCTION CAPACITY.
Power is expressed in watts and is one of the most common factors used to influence the purchase. It is believed that more power means more suction power, but in reality they are two very different things. More power doesn't necessarily mean better cleaning results, but it can lead to higher electricity bills. In addition to the suction power, you should also consider the outgoing suction power, as the efficiency of this device will depend on its balance.
2. CONSIDER THE SURFACES TO BE CLEANED AND THE ACCESSORIES REQUIRED.
Depending on the type of floor, the power will have to be higher or lower, which will force you to choose between one vacuum cleaner and another. Do you have a lot of carpet? Then choose one of the more powerful models, with a high suction power. If you have parquet, laminate or ceramic tiles, this will be a much easier task for the vacuum cleaner and will therefore require less power.
In addition to the surface, you also need to think about the more difficult corners of your home. There are all kinds of attachments designed to reach the smallest of corners.
3. LEARN A LITTLE MORE ABOUT ENERGY EFFICIENCY.
In September 2014, the law went into effect that requires appliance manufacturers to put an energy efficiency label on their appliances, so that the buyer has a good reference when buying one.
This law also requires vacuum cleaners to meet the following requirements: annual energy consumption must be less than 62 kWh/year, efficiency must be less than 166 watts, carpet dusting rate must be at least 70% and hard floors at least 95%.
4. DO YOU HAVE PETS?
This is another important point, especially if your little furry friend sheds a lot. Excessive hair (especially if it's long) can clog the tank or even get tangled in the motors. You need to choose a machine that can handle large amounts of suction, and there are many available today that are specifically designed for homes with pets.
5. DO YOU HAVE A DUPLEX? WEIGHT AND EASE OF TRANSPORT ARE FUNDAMENTAL.
You have to think about carrying the vacuum throughout your home; this is not a problem unless you live in a duplex, in a house that is too big, or if you have a muscle problem, for example. Depending on your situation, you will have to choose between one of the 3 types explained below.
6. KNOW THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN ALLERGIES AND FILTERS
HEPA filters are always important, but they are even more important for people with allergies. If there is no filter, the vacuumed dust will be sucked back into the room air (which is even worse).
There are different types of filters, but for these problems we recommend the HEPA (High Efficiency Particulate Air) filter, which has different levels of filtration and collects even the smallest dust particles.
7. IT IS ESSENTIAL TO CONSIDER THE CAPACITY OF THE BAG OR TANK.
The larger the better, as you will avoid having to empty the tank or change the bag from time to time. Many of today's models have a pilot light that comes on when there is little space left and reduces power so that the bag (or tank) is not overloaded with dust.
8. DID YOU KNOW THEY HAVE SAFETY SYSTEMS?
Like a car, some vacuums have safety features such as: filter saturation or bag change warnings, thermal safety, wheel protection to prevent scratching the floor, motor shut-off when the bag is defective and... even furniture bumpers!
TYPES OF VACUUM CLEANERS
After considering all the above questions, you should know that there are 3 different types to consider:
Canister (corded) vacuum cleaner: This is the one we have always seen, the one that consists of a small device with wheels from which a tube and the nozzle or brush come out.
Advantages:
- Its versatility when cleaning different surfaces.
- The wide range of models and prices that exist.
Disadvantages:
- Disadvantages related to transport or weight.
The upright or cordless vacuum cleaner: it is much easier to handle, has the shape of an ordinary broom, weighs less and works with external lithium batteries in general (which avoids plugging it into the mains).
Advantages:
- Lightweight, they do not weigh as much as the previous ones and can be used by everyone. Some good quality ones, such as those from Protech Allergies, offer good suction power and autonomy and are easy to clean.
Disadvantages:
- The dusting capacity is lower than a central vacuum cleaner, especially on carpets.
Robotic vacuum cleaners: they have only recently arrived on the market. If you don't have much time for cleaning, this is the most recommendable because it cleans itself. On the other hand, it is much less powerful, which is a big disadvantage, and they are usually round and therefore do not reach the corners.
